Founding of People’s World - Fort Wayne Edition

February 2nd, 2026 | By Harrison Cole

One hundred years and two years after the founding of The Daily Worker in Chicago, People’s World is launching a local edition for Fort Wayne and northeastern Indiana. In it’s first edition, The Daily Worker proclaimed that “...big business interests, bankers, merchant princes, landlords, and other profiteers...” should fear The Daily Worker. It further pledged to “...raise the standards of struggle against the few who rob and plunder the many.” With the founding of this edition, the collective behind this edition proclaims and pledges the very same.

As chief editor of the Fort Wayne edition, I’d like to extend my thanks to those who made this project possible. Further, I’d like to extend an invitation to all those who interested in contributing to this publication to do so. We need people interested in writing, editing, and distributing. You don’t need to be affiliated with any group to work with us. We accept all ranges of progressive and left viewpoints to publish.

If you have a story you’d like to write about, know a place that would like copies, or if you’re a proofreading whiz, please get into contact with us! We’d love to work with you.

Our contact info is available below. The reverse has additional info for the national publication. Don’t hesitate to reach out and we’ll get you involved. At present we plan quarterly editions with special editions if circumstances arise that need them. If there’s enough interest, we may do monthly releases as originally planned.

Here at People’s World we take sides... yours!
